Those hinges are fantastic looking! Can they be mounted so that the front edge of the door dips inside the fender? I have attempted wire hinges before, but with no success. And I really didn't like how I could not get the door to open properly. These may just be what I need to dig back into a long, long stalled project.

Diagrams are included in the instructions. By the way, these suckers are the "Heavy Duty" hinges you are seeing. They are etched in .015 thick Stainless Steel. (.... add your best Tim Taylor grunt here) That translates to 3/8" thick material in 1/24 scale. Have some good flat jaw pliers when bending. These will work great on larger doors, Caddys, Grand Prix, Impalas, full size trucks, and 1/16 and maybe even 1/12 cars. A lighter set is being etched in .010 thick (1/4" thick in 1/24 scale) shiny nickel for "Standard Duty" It will make it easier for the ladies to bend! (LOL, just kidding!) ;D
But they really are coming in both sizes, no kidding here!

Fantastic!!! Thanks for the info Gary, those are going to help a bunch. One more question, do you know if Detail Master makes a fret of ignition wire seperators? I have a couple different loom styles, but would really like to get just the pieces that hold 4 and 2 wires ( sorry if that is clear as mud ). Have used the full looms on one build, but most times just want the seperators and hate to keep robbing them from the loom frets. Thanks.

The looms alone, I don't think so. My favorite are the DM-2360 Ignition Wire Looms #1

As much as I dread making door jambs, those hinges make me wanna cut a few doors open now. Very cool, Gary!

As much as I dread making door jambs, those hinges make me wanna cut a few doors open now. Very cool, Gary! Thanks Dave. I can't wait to see them start showing up on contest tables. Remember these come in 2 thicknesses. Heavy duty, .015 stainless steel, (big old caddys, semi's 1/16th scale builds) Regular duty, .010 nickel silver. (chrome like, great for bugs through caddys) Detail Master should have them in stock. Anyone need some chrome trim for that old classic build?
Check out Detail Masters new photo-etch trim. I'll try to get some photos up tonight on these.

Guys, I have these hinges and all I can say is WOW. I stopped in to see Shiryl and picked up both sets. They work great. I am working on a 49 merc with a pancaked hood and I am using one for that. Bruce

OK guys, here is the newest item from Detail Master.
Trim DM-2541.
These are pretty long and can be cut to length to cover both sides of about 3 to 4 cars. Made in Nickel Silver so it polishes up like chrome. Two different widths of trim. You can paint the inner area to compliment your paint job or flip them over and go with the solid chrome strip look. There are several front tips to choose from..... and several rear tips also. What do you think?

Those trim pieces are a great idea! They could probably be used as pickup truck bed strips too. Are they be long enough for a '60 Cadillac quarter panel? Another question.....who would one contact to do a custom photoetch job? Or would it be cost-prohibitive?

You have 4 1/2" of uninterrupted length. Is this enough for a caddy? As far as having you own PE made, it is quite expensive.
