Kool racers, race cars that were built by racers in their own carports of garages, with their own ingenuity, sweat and determination. No speed (race car builders) shops or mail order speed parts. Ron we never called them Skeeters, down here, at Golden Gate and Sunshine Speedways.....we called them Winged Super Modifieds...found some old pics of mid 60s era super mods....frum Flawduh... ;D wanna know where Augie Hiscano got his idea for a Crosley Super mod waaay back in tha 1st Pactra Model Car Contest....this is Rod Perry's Crosley super mod that he raced down in Eau Gallie and Hialleah speedways... this pic waz taken in 1962... Check this super mod out...a Hot Rod Lincoln straight 8 an early mid-engined super mod .... maybe I shuld dig out my old super mod....and give ya a race for tha checkers ron....

Cool pics zeb. I remember the Augie build like it was yesterday. I wore the cover off that contest issue looking at the builds. Augie is surely missed. I got the chance to sit and talk with him on several occasions at the Atlanta show. He would talk for what seemed like hrs. A true ledgend to the hobby. The Skeeters never reached Super Mod title around here as the late models took over. They did however progress to square tubing frames and rollcages covered with sheet metal to lok like a car.I sure do miss the early days of racing on the little short dirt tracks. No 2 cars were the same and did they ever run like cats with their tail on fire. Nice to be old and have the memorys ;D.

Just a few shots , Amt `66 nova 327 with breathers added to the Valve covers. Hilborn injection mocked up. Wing just about complete.

Nice build, Ron. I can see a neat hot rod coming from one of those unchopped sedan bodys. Geezer
