.............. Tim Beebe's and the late John Mulligan's "Fighting Irish" fuel dragster ............ circa '68-'69 The build is based upon the Revell "Fighting Irish" kit ............. but again we had to turn to Competition Resins to correct the inaccuracies of the kit ( the kit is just a re-decaled Tony Nancy "Loner" kit, and unfortunately the two cars had little in common) Again (just as in the California Charger build) the only kit piece used on the body was the lower nose panel ............. the rest were replaced by correct Comp Resins parts .............. the "426" valve covers were replaced by "392's" and the magneto was moved from the right front to the rear of the block ........... that movement also required the modification of the nitrous lines ............. the incorrect Enderle "Bugcatcher" injector was replaced by a Hilborn 4-port and scoop, also from Comp Resins ................. the rest of the build was pretty much per the kit instructions The paint is a custom mixed color ............... a mixture of Cobracolors Candy Apple Green and Candy Aztec Gold was laid down over a base of Cobracolors Sparkle Silver Metallic ................ and the decals came from Slixx (three sets) .............. the decals caused some grief even after having been cleared ............. so each of the stripes was individually cut out and applied ........... bumped the decaling time up to about seven hours A beautiful, but starcrossed, car ............. unfortunately this ride was to cost John Mulligan his life at Indy in '69 following a massive clutch explosion and fire .............. we miss you Zookeeper
