Ok,hereis whats on my bench right now.It is part of the Boyd Coddington memorial build. Here is the kit I'm using. This is the only reference photo of the car that I am trying to replicate. So far I have one coat of primer on it.I have shaved all badging, door handles, gas door. The hood and decklid have also been smoothed.I will post pics of them later.Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanxs Jeremy

Try resizing your pics before posting. kinda fuzzy. Also, if you have a digital camera use the close up macro on your camera, usually symbolized by the little flower icon.

Ok,quick update. The second coat of primer is on. Here is hopefully a clearer shot of the shaved hood. This weekend I also got the first coat of red on the body. Does anyone know how long I should wait before applying the tape to two-tone the car? Thanx Jeremy

it all depends on what type of paint you use, i use acrylic automotive paint in an airbrush and im able to complete a tutone spray job, with sanding in between layers in a matter of hours, i have heard some enamals and laquers may take up to a week to cure. lookin good, cant wait to see more. R.I.P Boyd Coddington...

For this build I'm using dupli-color.If that helps anyone that could give me a timeline on the two-tone paint job. Thanx,Jeremy.

if i were you i wouldn't use tape at all.....use BMF. the reason is it's VERY thin and it will not create a big "step" that you would have to wet sand out....also, if possible, use an airbrush to aplly the 2nd color. i have had MANY problems trying to do a two-tone with rattle cans, esp. paint running. just my advice....adam

honestly if i was you i would give it a few days to gas out!!! depending on the tape you use, it could leave glue residue behind or pull up the paint!!! i am not family with dupli color because i use automotive base coat/clear coat!! its better safe then sorry!! and by the way i am lovin this build!!!

once the 2nd color flashes off, just dry to touch i would pull the tape off slowly!! this allows the tape to cut threw the paint that is overlapping the paint when it is so to speak soft!!!
ha,ha ya i will show my 55 pretty soon!! i really havent done anything to it except mock it up, and gather parts!!!
engine is lookin great!!!

Thanx guys.I'm kind nervous about doing the chrome around the roof.Thanx for lookin'Jeremy Just take your time. You'll do fine. Next time though, apply the BMF before you do the clear. Makes it more durable and less delicate. You could also still apply the BMF and still add a couple more coats of clear. Either way you'll do fine. Alex.
