finally got started on my dad's tribute car. bought this kit off ebay 2 1/2 years ago and it sat on my shelf for awhile until i decided it was time to build it. ;D so i started the paint job 2 weeks ago on the body and chassis, interior, ragtop and engine. here's what i have so far. well pics anyway. the engine has since been repainted to better match the pontiac blue they had in 65 and the tranny is now a statutory bronze, the trips have been added and the block is waiting it's exhaust manifolds. the interior is glued together and detailed and waiting the add in to the body. but anyway here's the pics of the first stage.
the paint on the body, hood, and firewall are all cherry red. it's the closest i could find to montero red, the color of my dad's old GOAT. i could get the montero thru a guy i know up town from me specially ordered and canned, but he's chargin an arm and a few legs for it. money i ain't got.
firewall
dad will have this option glued to the body, ragtop down, as well as the actual ragtop option of it being up, so he can show off to his friends.
the seats have since been highlighted where need be. the emblem of pontiac in center is in red NATURALLY. and the shifter is painted with a white shifter nob, the counsel is painted antique gold, and the dash has it's highlights as well.
it thru me for a loop when i realized this was a skill 2 kit. the chassis has the drive shaft, rear axle, exhaust lines, and diff. already molded into the model. so i made the best i could out of it. the shaft, diff., and gas tank are the same color as the tranny now, will be workin on given the exhaust lines an aluminum color to them soon.
this engine was already pre painted when i bought the kit. some guy had started to build then gave up, the block, tranny, and heads were a deep blue just brushed on. i painted it light chevy blue as you can see here. wasn't satisfied with the results, and decided to use my testors teal brush paint on it, and surprisingly enough, it came out the pontiac blue i was trying to achieve for.
more pics of the rest and finished will be up soon guys. let me know whats ya think so far, love the criticism and love the cheers, makes me a better modeler. ;D
