I decided I needed a break from working on the 40 Ford Sedan, so I decide to do a quick build. Looking through "The Stash" I came across this AMT Jawbreaker, it's an old MPC tool that by todays kit standards doesn't have a lot of detail but it builds into a decent looking model, I had built one of these back when I was a lot younger. I was just going to do some plug wires and the fuel lines on this build, nothing real fancy. When I pulled it out of the box I saw 2 halves of the body was warped and twisted. I used the heat from a work lamp and some hot water to get it shaped up enough to glue it together, then I used epoxy on the inside of the joint to hold everything together good and strong. Next the body was puttied and primed up. After I got the color coats on I shot the body with 2 coats of clear then took the body back to the bench to wet sand it. I had been working on the chassis so I mocked up the model and took a picture of it in front of the box. Later on I was looking at the pictures and I realized how close the red on the box art and the torch red I used were, so now I've decided the model is going to be a box stock build. Chuck J.

Looks good Chuck. Is that kit as difficult to build as I have heard?

I thought this was going to be a quick simple build but it is quite involved the body was warped and had severe depressions on the sides. After I got the body glued together I layed on some epoxy to make the joint stronger. Most of the mounting points had to be removed to get the parts to fit together. I believe some of the mold must have been missing when they redid this kit as a couple of the parts had square pins to fit into round holes. Don't get me wrong although this kit has a lot of problems it isn't anything that can't be fixed. Just take your time test fit everything before you pick up the glue and keep something along the line of a stress ball nearby LOL Chuck J

Yes I'll do a review on this kit after it's done. I still feel it's a good kit overall it just has some issues. while I'm here I'll paste on a couple of pictures that are upto date. I only have a little bit to go and it'll be done. Thanks Chuck J

Love these old competition coupes, as they were called back in the day. What class do they race in now! Bantam bodies on a rail dragster chassis, way cool!
