Here's my current WIP. It's a nostalgia lakester built from a 56 T-bird. The photos are a few days old, she is even thinner than she was in the last shot. I've take a total of 15/16 of an inch from the centerline. The wheelwells will be filled and the body smoothed out. More pics soon.

She's finally on her feet. Scrapped the 427 SOHC, due to size and space, and will be using a 312 with a six pack.

Ready for the putty. Chassis is done, engine begun. Roll cage will be soldered brass tubing (my first try). Hood scoop needs to be built.

SO far so good, I like it! Good choice in motors, I like those old Y-blocks. Are you going to sand the tread off the titres?

Slimlouis, that's a negative. Every pic I've found of a saltie, they are running treaded tires. They are not snow tires mind you, but they have treads, so I found a set with shallow treads. I intend on creating a base to replicate the salt flat surface, and will have the tires covered in faux-salt so the treads will hardly be visable. Check out one of my research pics.

Thanks for the information, I guess they just look smooth with the salt all over them. Great build, I've always had a distant fascination with salt flat racing, maybe I'll build one, too, for a change!

For what its worth, I had the opportunity to visit the Bonneville Salt Flats 2 years ago....what an awesome sight....and the salt is pretty hard packed, not loose like I always thought. I even brought a bag of it home, but don`t tell anybody!!
