Pro Street 32 ford Roadster W.I.P

This my first post here a tmm. I started building this monogram 32 ford roadster and thought i would share it here. I'm using a kit from 85' and have started this project by fitting the rear tires into the the chassis. I cut out the floor/trunk pan and built a new floor and added a cross member to hold the rearend. The rearend assembly came from revell's 57 top sportsman kit and includes everything to mount it. Still have to finish the wheel tubs. Moving to the front i found that the front staight axle was way to thin looking and not going to let me get the front end down where i wanted it to be. I cut the old axle out and made a new one out of 3/32 round tube then mounted the spring and trailing arms to it. The steering will work when done. Thats it for now. Thanks for looking

While I`m not much of a pro-street kinda guy, this is pretty cool, and I`ve thought about doing this before. Back in the 80s, there was a 32 on the ISCA show circuit built as a pro-streeter....pretty radical for back then. I`ve always wanted to model one. I`ll be interested to see this as you progress.

Update: Chassis work is moving along. I put the rear tubs in so the rear floor pan is almost done. Figured i should take care of some body details while here so i removed the barb that runs on the edge of the fenders around the car. The running boards have been smoothed(i have a pic showing one side done). Back to the front i built the spindals out of styren and will be mounted with pins. But i think i have a problem. May have made the axle to wide! When i mocked the tires in place i found that they are almost to the edge of the fender(out to far)This could prove to be a problem because there is hardly any room for the steering to turn. Hopfully when i get it done it will work fine. Thats it for now and thanks for your interest.

Well, now you`ve really went and done it. I guess I`m going to have to build one of these! I`ll add it to my "to do" list! This is coming along nicely.

Work on the 32 is coming along, I finished the front axle after cutting it apart to correct the width. Now the tires are placed in the wheel wells the way i wanted them. I put it together with pins for the time being. Pins will be used for the final assembly but you won't see the cut end. I sanded the bottom and removed a few molded in details to clean it up. The bottom is ready for paint but i still have to figure out how to run the exhaust for the hemi that i have decided to use for the power plant. The engine came out of a 1/24 scale funny car and almost looks small compared to the small block that came in the kit, But i think it will look ok. Here are a few pics of what i'v done so far. I didn't get much done this week as i spent time looking at the body trying to come up with some ideas to do to it. This is what i came up with. I pulled out one of my old willy's body's i had laying around and cut the top off. i took about 4 scale inches out of the center and put it back togethter. I fit the back of the top to body to get i ready for the next cut which was across the top taking about 7 scale inches out. Then i cut that down the middle and attached those parts back to the top. Then added a peice of scrap to fill the gap. I still need to work on the windshield frame and cowl area. After all the time spent doing this i think it is coming out ok. I'll post a update when i finish getting the top mounted.
