I wanted something mundane looking with a big monster under the hood. So I went through my stash and found this 69 Cougar complete except for the engine. I stripped down a 66 427 Fairlane, and discovered the engine fits in the Cougar pretty good, as do the rims. I used stretched kit sprue to make the trim around the top, then masked off the body and misted the roof with flat tan camo paint, then covered it in Tamiya Pure White. The body will most likely be painted Tamiya Light Gunmetal Metallic, I havent completely decided. The only clue that will give away the car without looking under the hood, will be the huge tach that's going on the dash. Ideas/comments welcome.

I like that idea. Nothing like a good sleeper car. Keep us updated.

A little more progress. Got the paint laid down, Tamiya Light Gunmetal. It came out really smooth, so 6000 grit was what I started with, then 8000 and 12000. The interior was started, white with gray carpeting.

Just about 90% finished now. It still needs a little BMF and a few things under the hood need to be hooked up. I had to lengthen the driveshaft with a 1/8 spacer, and modify the Cougar transmission cross member, but for the most part, the 427 went in without trouble. Styrene tubing was bent over a candle to make the pipes that hook from the manifolds to the mufflers.
