Here is my current build and a short story to go with it. I was looking for a quick build so I thought I would do Tamiya's 350Z. As I was doing research on the 1:1 car, I started liking the looks more and more. The performance isn't too bad either. I had never considered buying a "tuner" type car. One day my wife and I went past a car lot and they had this "burgandy" 350Z. I went home and cleaned up my '95 Z28. We went back to the lot and the "burgandy" car was now a "brown/gold" car. Found out it was a 2006 with "Interlagos Fire" factory paint. The rest, as they say, is history. My wonderful wife had no problems with me getting the car. Had 11,500 miles, one or two rock chips on the nose and that beautiful paint. It goes from a chocolate brown to gold to copper to red-ish, burgandy-ish and purple. Wow!! 18" wheels that are pretty cool. Completely impractical, rough ride, no storage, very little creature comforts and I wouldn't have it any other way - LOL.
Anyhow, back to the build. I had already sprayed the body with Tamiya's TS-53, Deep Metallic Blue and had the chassis done. The wheels are close but not correct for my 2006.
The interior is just about finished. I'll have some pics in a few days. I have had problems with the glass. The rear window's defroster lines did not allow the Tamiya mask to sit nice and tight and I got some bleed through.
I want to get this one finished and start on another. I am going to try to find the correct paint, (HOK or another consumer friendly brand. Can't afford the real thing - lol). Tamiya is releasing the new version of the 350Z. The body is different but the wheels look correct.
Sorry for the long post but I'm a pretty happy camper these days. ;D Thanks for looking and as always, let me know what you think.
Got more done on the 350Z. Body is basically done. Just need to put the glass in, mirrors and door handles.
The interior is done. Really can't see to much of it once the body is on.
I'll post pics one more time when it is done. Thanks for looking.
