Hi Swampy.
I use " Easy Off " oven cleaner because it remove's chrome faster. When i use " Bleach " (for cloths) i let it soak until the next day and it's all gone. Then i clean parts with a tooth brush under warm water. Parts are ready to be assemble and painted. Hope this help you out.

The cheap oven cleaner at the "Dollar" stores work well also.

I use Simple Green. Just sit it in there overnight. It's bio-degradable and reusable ans has no caustic odor..

I'm partial to Super Clean or Purple Power. Strips paint in a day or so, and chrome in minutes.
