Depends on the paint, mostly.
My favorite is Castrol Super Clean degreaser(commonly referred to as 'CSC' or 'the purple pond'); once I tried it a few years ago, I stopped using oven cleaner altogether....my favorite brand of oven cleaner had been discontinued anyway. Although CSC isn't as effective on lacquer primer or fully cured Tamiya sprays, enamels don't stand a chance against it.
91% rubbing alcohol is another popular one, as it allegedly works well on cured Tamiya spray paint.
Brake fluid is another one that works well if the others fail, but the clean-up is a little more labor intensive IMO.

I use brake fluid. Works great even on primer. Just make sure its DOT3. Works the same way CSC does. And I think its a couple dollars cheaper.

I have used heavy duty Easy Off oven cleaner, works great...soak the body, put it in a plastic bag and tie it up...let it set over nite and scrub it off with an old toothbrush....sometimes it may take a couple applications but will strip most any paint....

Just a word of caution! DO NOT use brake fluid to strip paint off of resin. The results are kinda messy.
