This was the first European truck I built. Both truck & trailer are from Italeri. Went to Euro model truck sites as well as the manufacture of Renault to start getting information. Starting with the cab, I opened the driver's door and hinged it ( the cab was to flimsie to open both ) Re-built both seats & added belts & armrests. Put in carpeting and the usual interior stuff including photoetch CD's, keys, fire extinguisher. I built 2 cab pistons that can be moved up and keeps the cab up in the service position The 500 h.p. Magnum diesel looks exactly like a Mack and thats because it is. Renault uses Mack powerplants so I made a trip to a local Mack dealer to get some info. The frame was lengthen 4 scale feet and a steerable tag axle added along with Super-size front tires, extended exhaust tip, center wheel hubs & the usual wiring etc.etc..
The trailer was built as per instructions. The "under-run" ( used to keep small cars from running under the trailer and also is used as storage space )was painted red/yellow stripes. All the molded in curtain strap/buckles were sanded off & pewter buckles ( K.F.S. product )and black tape were put in there place. The "Target" decals were also ordered from K.F.S. of England. The curtain ( which is plastic not cloth ) was decal-ed then dull coated 8 times, with streaks of weathering after each coat of dull. The normal wiring/weathering rounds it off.
