Started in the summer of '90, this is AMT's KW and Revell of Germany's 6-axle Gravel Trailer. The truck's hood has the grill de-chromed ,glued on, and seams filled to blend in as one and a Custom-made bug defector. The kit's Cummins was detailed and weathered. Hood springs added and mesh for the air intakes. The frame was lengthen 6 scale ft. A lift-axle and somewhat wiring added and then painted kiln red. The cab got the doors opened and hinged--carpeting--seat skirts--dash detailed. The sleeper got carpet--overhead T.V.--real herring-bone wood paneling--the bed is a tissue covered with material to give it a "soft" touch--built-in stereo under the bed--a couple of wanted posters from the 1800's. Hood/cab/sleeper painted burgundy and 2 coats of clear. The scratch-built exhaust comes up behind the sleeper (which at this time was unheard of )side air defectors got brackets. The trailer has electric/air lines--hinged rear flaps--large frame fender-- wood trim railing--real canvas cover (used the kits plastic top,cut the front 4 inches off, glued real on top, rolled the front back )--made a small box same size width as trailer and 2 inches longer than the opening in the cover, glued it about 2 inches down and then filled it with HO scale sand, giving the illusion of a full load. Trailer is painted also burgundy with a kiln frame. The chrome side was part of the kit. Normal road weathering was added overall. This truck has seen a LOT of contest/shows in the early 90's, doing very well. After each display, I would have to add some sand because people would touch it wondering if it was real.
