Wow, amazing. I was planning on doing my first custom rig but I see I have a lot more planning to do. Where did you get all of the great accessories, ie, wheels, smoke stacks, tanks etc. Also what kind of chrome paint did you use?
Alex.

I made most of the aluminum part's from scratch but one of my good buddy's doeh made the stack's, air tank's , air cleanners and pully's for me. As for the chrome it's not paint it was all sent out to get chromed platted. the wheel's are from the jada 1/24 tow truck I just cut the tire's to fit the rim's.

We all got robbed and the bad thing about it is there was alot of other car's that should of gotten that award who put in long day's and night's not to mention the hour's. but it's all good we all know who the real winner's where.

Don't you hate it when you know you have been ripped off? I've been in the same boat. My Hillbilly Truck is loaded with scratch built details, has won tons of awards. At an IPMS show in Columbus, it got beat by a dump truck whose only scratch-building was, and stated as, "air lines added".
Your rig is so cool. You still coming to the NNL East in less than 6 weeks?

To tell you the truth, I didn't care for the tiny tire/big wheel combination you had on their. Maybe if the car had some wild graphics, these would have looked natural. Since the car has a single color paint job and no wild graphics, I like the spun aluminum dish look better.
Just my opinion.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR COMMENT'S GUY'S. I just finished the rig last week and got it ready for the NNL WEST. Here are the finished pic's of the rig the day of the show. I got beat out by a 32 ford that had no window's, radiator or hose's, steering colum nor steering wheel, brake's nor booster didn't even have a fire wall but the worst part of all was they all knew the guy who brought it to the show didn't even build it nor paint it. and here is the car that beat me and 1,000 other entries quote] to start off i appreciate all the work that you have in this build...it DOES look like a top notch tractor/tralier build, and the paint is jaw-dropping....BUT i do have a problem with you taking a pic and posting of another builder's piece and picking it apart.....sounds like sour grapes to me. the reason i have a problem with this is, it's not the BUILDER that you should blame...it's the judging!!!!!! i have, on occasion, asked a judge (or judges) after a contest to pick apart my model and let me know the reason why i didn't get the nod.....and i didn't start slamming other people's work and make a big deal about somebody elses build, i kept it to mine and mine only. i asked them to be blunt....we all need some constructive critism every now and then....thats what makes us better builders!!!! i think you are placing your anger at someone elses feet that doesn't deserve it. i know we (contest builders) have all felt at one point or another that we got robbed at a show or two, i know i have, but i wouldn't go on a website or message board and blast that individual, rather i would deal with the problem at the source, when it was needed.......hopefully in the future we can all learn from our experiences and be better at what we like to do, BUILDING MODELS!!!!!! adam

I have never said nor talked bad about anyone when I lost that's just not me, unless it was obvious like this time it was. the model that won was not built nor painted by the owner WHO ENTERED IT. we all know who built it for him and so did the judge's. second they said that someone else had won that award but had left the show so they took it upon there selves to give it to this 32 witch was not finished. the person entering this model knew that it needed alot of work and should of been put it in the w.i.p. table. long story short they are both to blame. I spent a whole year , took time off from work and spent a small fortune on the trip, not to mention over 700 mile's round trip for something like this to happen. not only me but everyone in the show was pissed off. If it wasn't my entry it should of been someone else's cause there was alot of other nice rides there that could of taken it cleanly. i had asked the main people there to be fair and re count the ballot's they said no and where going to burn them. i told them people who do that are hidding something and are just trying to cover their track's. so i just walked away. pissed but walked away.

re-read my post.....you have EVERY right to be pissed.....but to blame a builder ( or lack thereof in this case) isn't a good thing for the hobby no matter how you look at it. it's up for the judges and contest organization to find the right category for an entry, even if filled out and placed by builder or entrant. do i think you got the "shaft"? YES. but to blame a builder, tends to bring unwanted anomosity. but if i were in your situation, i would NEVER go to that show again, EVER! the judges/contest organization handled everything WRONG......i would be blasting the show rather than the builder, especally when you did approach them. from the way it looks you seem to have done just about everything i would have....except what is being discussed..so that being said, what show was it? adam

I think they got what they wanted. If you can't beat me fare and square " CHEAT " . I ain't going back there is alot more show's around. I might even bring back the SO.CAL. CLASSIC and make it on the same day.

Wow! Nicest custom Pete I've seen, bar none! That color is gorgeous! I'm not a fan of those kind of wheels, but they do look good on there! Excellent job!

The best custom model truck that I have seen yet. And I build custom trucks myself. I know first hand what it takes to build one like this. Very well done. Earl
