Hey guys. This is a revell VW beetle that I am trying to master as a baja body for Jake to cast. I have never made a master before,so this will be the first attempt. This is what it will look like though. I need to do a little finish work still. Also this one piece front end might be do-able after some body work. We are thinking of making it as a trans kit with wheels, tires, bead locks, fuel cell, seats, porsche trans Jake already makes these seats-bead locks-fuel cell-and maybe even these tires by now. Your thoughts on this? Would you be interested if the price was affordable? Thanks for the input. Doug R

I most definately would be interested. We had 2 Baja bugs. When I was around 5-6 we had anywhere from 15-30 Bugs at our house. It was the only car my Mom would drive. Great work Doug. Is that the one piece you found in the kit you bought?

I'm liking that body more and more each time I see it, Doug. Those Centerlines are a baja must, even without beadlocks. It's good to see a positive use for that sadly dated Revell kit.

Bobby, That's the one piece-it's rough, but no more than a box stock revell body.LOL!
I chose the revell body first due to cost and availability. The kit really does suck, the body is horrible. Having said that. My baja body will make a nice looking build from that kit. Will it have perfect body lines-No Will it compare to a tamiya-no Will it be reasonably priced,I sure hope. This body will not be one that you would bare metal foil,etc... It will make a cool looking off road car for sure. Thanks for the input.

Well, I sent the body to Jake,He said it looks pretty good. He will try casting is when he gets home from Texas most likely. So if it comes out good I will let you know. The other parts are ones he already makes. The AMT 57 chevy street machine fuel cell Bigfoot monster truck seats Monogram porsche trans which is just like a real race trans. Jake is gonna work on a wheel with the bead lock already on it too. Doug R

This will be on hold for a little bit. Jake is having issues due to weather temps and humidity. He has a new baby on the way and lost his casting room. (we all know that one) Any way,I talked with him today and he wants to try it again in a few months with better weather where he is at. The mold needs redone, but I am sure he can do it. I will update you as I know. He is gonna send me a couple of the test bodies to work on. Doug

As Doug said, I was having some major issues with this body and it will need to be placed on hold for a bit. I am going to have to pour a new mold for the body and that is mainly the biggest set back. I hope to get some decent results from the next mold and if I do, you folks will get the word from Doug or myself.
Sorry for the delay on this one guys.
Jake

Everyone has so many projects to do that the bodies would just sit a little anyway I would assume.LOL! Thanks Jake. Doug R

Bringing this from the dead.
Guys things are looking up on this. It took a year but I think I have something going. I am going to wait a bit longer to reveal the details but after some really bad attempts at this and some advice from some other casters........
I will let you know.
