Here is my Tamiya '66 Beetle, which is mostly box stock. I built it sometime near 1995, if memory serves correctly. public.fotki.com/VWDave/my_model_cars/66_vw_beetle/I added foil chrome, flocking, and engine wiring. The paint is a rattle-can enamel I picked up at a Ben Franklin craft store, long before I had the kit; it just looked 'very 60s VW' to me. At a model contest held during a 1:1 VW show in 1996, there were two classes: models and toys. It was thought to be a Franklin Mint model, and was judged as a toy. ;D I devised the open pop-out quarter glass when building this one, as I'm a big fan of them in 1:1; here is the tutorial I recently put together: public.fotki.com/VWDave/how-tos/vw_beetle_pop-out/

Great looking Bug. The color does look very much like a Bug color. Very cool tutorial.
