Hey guys, Can you tell me which Water pumper VW kit has the best motor in it? I think I want to build a new style beetle baja with a VW water pumper motor. Also anyone got a motor for trade? Or Sale. Don't need the trans. Thank you. Doug R

Doug - The best 4-cylinder VW waterpumper is probably in the Revellogram A2 GTI.....I sent one off to a buddy in South Africa recently, but I might have another(and those GTI kits are purely 'parts value' if'n you ask me).
Give me a day or so to dig them out, and drop me an email reminder. If I have one, it's yours for the taking.

That would be great. I have a tamiya donor body for the build. I am still piling vw parts together for you Dave. Thanks. Doug R

I will check the LHS. They might have one marked down.

As long as I remeber there are only a few water pumper (btw: nice nickname, we call them `kettle`) with engines...
The Revell AG´s Corrado has an 16V and Esci´s MkI GTI has a stock GTI engine. Both Kits may be very hard to find. The AMT Golf and Scirocco Kits have also an stock 1.6 litre. And than there is the Revell MKII GTI. I think all other kits are curbside or as the Fujimi MkIII´s the engine is a relief, but with a little scratchbuilding you´ll might have a nice VR6.
I own some water pumper kits, I´ll check the engines.

The Corrado is a G60 on the box top, but the kit has a 16v? The last one I tried for on Ebay went for about $130, so I'll never know for sure. In addition to the Revell Mk2 engine I also have at least one of the old AMT engines I wouldn't miss, and I still have a few of my amateur-cast resin VR6 pieces(copied from the Fujimi Mk3 GTI) left....there might be a few options for Doug to mull over after all. A guy in Utah made this from my VR6 parts....neat, huh?

Wow, That's cool. I would modify anything I got anyway and mate it to a resin porsche trans. I will PM you Dave. Thanks. Doug R

Sorry, you´re right! It´s a G60.
I´ve checked my kits, no more engines than the ones we´ve already named.
@doug: What about the Audi Quattro 5-cylinder Turbo from Tamiya? In fact it´s also a relief but wouldn´t it make a nice baja engine?

I am used to tamiya not having engines. Thanks for the help. I may have have to build 2 water pumpers. Stefan
