In the past couple of months, life has gotten in the way of me spending too much 'quality time' with our hobby. However, I was recently inspired by the swarm of VW accessory-related posts on another board, and decided to dig through my stash of spare bits. A couple of days later, here's what I have roughed-in: A Tamiya '66 Beetle hood and the related pieces from a Revellogram '37 Ford were mated for a goof, and I'm actually pretty proud of it so far. I might tackle the Rolls Royce-style one next, if I can wrangle an inexpensive RR kit or built-up.

Hey that's cool...Good luck with the Rolls-Royce one. I have been trying for a couple of years to figure out how to put one together to look like my car. (you can view in the 1:1 section) No luck in snagging the Barris RR kit and I don't quite have the skill or tools to kit bash and smash a RR and VW kit togther...

Thanks for the kind words. Lucky for me, the Rolls-style Bug I might be doing has stock(albeit flared) Beetle front fenders.......unlucky for me, I'll have to scratchbuild the Domus flatbed kit and one-off rails that are on it: Honestly, I looked at the pics and IMO yours might not be that hard to do. There is a curved-windshield Super kit out there(I have it), which is a great start. Look at the yellow Beetle on the top shelf to the right of the Tamiya Karmann Ghias, and up on the left from the Gran Turismo buggy: An old built-up of the Airfix Rolls Royce might be a great donor; add a healthy dose of sheet styrene, super glue & putty and you're on to something.

Thanks, Ron! My original build plan wasn't a 'plan' at all; I was just doing the hood as a goof.....with all the positive responses I've gotten, I may have to do a whole car to put it on. (the mock-up Beetle in the pics is a spare body shell on the chassis of the '65 I'm doing for my friends).

I like the truck idea, that should be fun. I may be able to get my hands on a Barris Rolls glue bomb, that's a start a little less scratch building! Now I have to keep an eye for the Super Beetle kit(I didn't know that they made a SB kit!!) Keep us informed on how that Ford project goes and if the Rolls one works!!
