Well here is a build that is only in the beginning of the planning stages. I bought 3 of the Revell dick Landy 68 Dodge Dart GTS kits on sale (half price). Lately i have been checking out a new show on the Speed Channel. Its called "Living the Low Life". Its all about lowriders. Being that i grew up in So Cal i have seen a lot of lowriders growing up nad have had a little more than a passing interest in them. You have to respect the time, effort, and money put into these cars. So it got me wanting to build a lowrider. I didnt want to build an Impala since that is so common, and i didnt want to go out and buy a lowrider kit. So i had these Dart kits and remembered seeing a late 60s Dart lowrider before as a kid soooo i figured what the hell. So what do you guys think? Am i nuts, or do you think it might be cool? I will swap out the big block for a small block and get rid of the GTS trim and emblems. To me a big block Dart GTS is a musclecar, not a lowrider, but a Dart Swinger, or a Dart GT, or just a plain Dart could be.

Hey Towguy, I say go for it. The cool thing about building models is you can do what you want. Keep us posted on the progress.

Thats got a good look to it. Some nice met paint and you got a great car. I have a few cans of Testors #1631 Burgundy Purple Metal Flake i bought for a buck a can when Walmart decided to get rid of all their model stuff. Thought i might try that. Cant decide what to use for a primer. Grey, White, Black, Red Oxide? Each will change the color a little. Or maybe spray it over a slver or gold base coat. I dunno, usually this metal flake paint from Testors is thin like their pearls. I have Testors Colors by Boyd #52904 Gape Pearl i could use instead of the Purple Metal Flake. I dunno.

I say go with the metalflake.a lowrider just doesn't look right without a kandy or flaked paint job.I'llbe watching the progress with this one.
