This is my first completion of 2008, and one that I've been keeping hush-hush since I started it in October: public.fotki.com/vwdave/my_model_cars/joe-dirt-daytona-charger/I had an absolute blast building this car, and I hope everyone who looks at my album likes it half as much as I do. I chuckle to myself just looking at it on the shelf. ;D

Great build Dave. You captured the look just right.

Love the build!! It is obvious that you have researched what beat up old cars look like, not just what you think they look like.
Also, thanks for adding captions to your photos on your fotki site. I really helps us newbees learn what you did and why... I believe thinking is a large aspect of model building. John

Thanks for the kudos, everybody. This was a slightly challenging, but very fun build for me.
I try to add captions to my Fotki albums, because it can be downright boring sifting through loads of pics with no real guide as to what has been done....and besides, making them funny helps make the visit a lot more pleasant for all.

Awesome, Dave!!! Looks EXACTLY like the one in the movie.
I agree with John about the captions...I especially like this one:
"Muppet-hide upholstery After a little epoxy and CA, a lot of curse words and gluing my fingers to the seats, they were finally done......my wife has agreed to smother me in my sleep if I ever mention doing this on another model."

Thanks again for the support, all; I'm glad this model came out as well as it did, and that everyone seems to dig it as well.

That is just too cool, way to get every detail. I wish the 1:1owner could see it, he would flip out!

If all goes according to my plans, the owner might see it. I'm going to the All-Chrysler nats this summer at Carlisle, and the current owner of the Charger has been there before; he lives in either VA or MD, if memory serves correctly. Ret assured I'll shoot pics of the little one ON the big one if it happens.
