I’m sick and tired of seeing the same model's at show's year after year. And I literally mean the same models. Is it just me or do most of you think that they should show the model in the show circuit for that year then build new one's for the next. I understand if it's on the W.I.P. table then it's all good. And since I am ranting do you think it's fare to other model builder's to have a person who is judging in a show be able to show his model in the same show. I think not cause no matter how bad their car look's they seem to always get an award. I think that in nothing but CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

Back in the 80s, I helped a guy with a 1:1 show car that was a member of the ISCA. They had a rule that a car couldn't be shown more than a year without major changes, so yes, I agree with you. There should be a one year limit on show eligibility, unless you just want to display a model without competing. As far as judges, I think its ok for a judge to enter a model in a show, but its a BIG no-no for him to judge the class he is entered in.

I used to go to a local show here on L.I. the SAME Mooneyes funnycar won best in show 3 years running along with class win ,best paint ,best motor for the same 3 years... maybe be being club V.P. helped? I think 1 year on show circut, unless major changes. Judging the same class as entry...nope don't think so. Paul

I think if it's showed already and has taken most if not all the major top award's then i shouldent compete again that will just drive all the other guy's away and leave them nothing to look foward to coming back for. It always' seem's to be the buddy of the guy who's throwing the show.

Hey again Mr. Biggs. Here is what we do in the North Cental West Virginia Scale Modelers, NCWVSM, club. We do not allow past winners to re-enter the same model. This is hard to police. One way is to keep track of previous years entries and the use of pictures. To the best of my knowledge this has not been a problem at our shows. Put it on the contest flyer so there is no question about it. We do not allow club members to enter our show. We have a separate table(s) for club members to display their models. We give out a "people's choice" ticket for the club members models. When awards are given out the club member also gets his award. I just attended an IPMS show where the members got several gold medals. Was it deserved? Was it wink, wink, nod, nod? Not sure but any look of impropriety could be removed by simply not allowing club members to enter their own show. Keeping everything "above board" will serve your show's reputation well. Hope this helps Mr. Biggs.

My personal rule of thumb is that if one of my models wins an award at a specific show, that model gets 'retired' from that event. As new and unfamiliar shows pop up here and there, I have been known to pull one out of retirement to attend....especially if I haven't finished anything new in a while.
The NNL East is the only exception to my rule, as there are no awards for me there; being a part of it is what that show is all about.

Thanks for the replies guy's It's mainly how I think it should be. I just get tired of seeing the same stuff every year. It seems like they build a few car's and keep showing it till it Win's something or they just give them a sympathy vote to get rid of them.
