Well I think 3 days rest is long enough since I got my bug finished. I want to thank you all for the kudos, good words and congrats I got during the build and for the Best of Show win at the NNL East.
On with the Predator. This project started life years ago when Scale Auto Enthusiast Magazine announced their Alumnacoupe contest.
The contest was based on the new Testors Alumnacoupe. Start with this kit and do what ever you want with it.
Well I started getting into too much detail and knew I would never make the deadline, so I decided to just go all-out on it. I figure it's about 65% finished now.
This build will be killer. If you want to get up to speed on this project, check out my Fotki site at: public.fotki.com/gkulchock/all-my-modeling-rel/my-in-progress-mode/predator_1_of_my/
My deadline to finish this build has been set for April 17, 2009, one year from now, and one day before the NNL East 2009

The name on the valve cover was photo-etched and glued to the valve cover. After painting them I'll sand off the paint from the top of the letters and polish them to a chrome finish. You can see the script in the attached photo of my photo-etch.

I will have the Predator finished for the NNL East 2009. I will have ...... I will have ......I will have ......It's finally going to happen. Detail Master just sent me all the supplies I'll ever need to finish this sucker, so no excuse now.
The Silvia club build will be finished in about 2-3 weeks.
The Koenig Mercedes will be finished for the NNL South in November.
My "Wagon" build Rat Vega is going to be a slammer and should also be finished by the NNl South.
........... so November 10 is my kick-off day to restart the Predator and I'll have 5 months to finish it up.PUSH ME GUYS!

A little help out there.I need some nice carbs for my Predator. The Revell-o-gram 1150 dominator's are nice, but I feel 2 are just too much for this street beast. The Nascar carbs, shown in this photo are nice, but a little small for my taste.I'm not too much into the US car models, but is there a great looking carb out there available, sized between these 2?

Did you ever find a carb to use? Sure did. They are made by Replicas & Miniatures and resemble Holly Street Avengers. They will look great once I detail them out.

OK, here's what's going on with the Predator.
I've had one thing haunting me on this model for quite a while now and that's the front suspension. I don't care if it actually works but I want it to look as if it does. Plastic won't do for me here so I'm going to start designing brass components that will do the job. I want to go with inboard shocks very similar to an F1 car. Oh, and I do want the steering to work.
So where to begin? If you noticed I made the entire under part of the nose removable, a "pod" if you will. It's held in place with a single screw. My entire suspension will be housed in this "pod".
I'll start with the spindles, then brakes, and work my way to the A-arms, finally attaching them to the pod.
And so the fun begins .....

Wow! I haven't worked on this one since May. Well since the Koenig Mercedes is finished, and I have 6 months till the NNL East, it's time to blow off the dust and finish this thing up for East. So let me show you what I've been up to. Most of the model is finished, but I need to perfect all the fit of the existing parts I've constructed, and pin everything so final assembly goes as neat and accurate as possible. Here is one of the interior door panels. Copper backers have been added to the speaker openings to allow them to just drop in place at final assembly. Here is a little more of the custom Photo-etch I've created. Same with the speaker opening on top of the dash also. I added a recessed box to the firewall to mount the scratch-built Optima Battery. Battery's about 75% finished. Going with GM terminals on it.

Glad you are working on this one again, love the different techniques and media you are using. Speaking of, did you tell us before about the PE? I have been toying with making some but wonder if there is an easier way. Do you make your from start to finish or only do the art and have someone else do all the messy/smelly stuff? John
