I would like to thank all of you who voted for "Old Red". Your approval of my efforts means a great deal to me.
I'm not sure that all of you know that I debated on withdrawing the car from the contest right before I completed it. My dilemma was this: build it as a contest model or build it as it really was. I chose the latter, as I had no other decals to build the model again as a replica.
"Old Red" was not flashy. He didn't have a lot of chrome or polished aluminum parts. In fact, he was painted totally black underneath. That was done on purpose so not to have any parts stand out and catch the eye of the NHRA inspectors. In choosing to replicate him the way he was, I didn't feel that the model would be a good contest model.
I still do not understand why so many of you voted for "Old Red", but I am extremely grateful. It is a privilege to be a member of this board along with so many marvelous modelers whom in my opinion build cars better than mine.
Thanks again for your support.
John

John dont be so hard on yourself. Old Red was a fine model. It is great that you can say you owned the 1:1 and the model. A well deserved win my friend. Now what are you going to build for the 2nd Annual Racecar Contest when it starts?
