daytonatim, Really cool work! I was wondering when someone would bring this into our hobby.
You mention 1/8 and 1/6 scales in the thread. Why so large? Is the process just not precise enough of smaller scales like 1/25? John

Is the process just not precise enough of smaller scales like 1/25? John Thanks No, it is way more precise than what we can finish out. If Gary posts up a good closeup of the magneto for the 1/16 allison you will see what I mean. The magneto has cooling fins on it that can't be anymore than about .005" thick. It just comes down to a matter of numbers.....for every kit in (1/6 thru 1/16) there are 100 kits in 1/24 and 1/25. Then you add on top of that all the resin casters out there for the 1/24 1/25 th world ....I think that scale is pretty much covered. Guys doing the larger scales are really hungry for new and different things. Besides, we are looking toward the future. When all of us old modelers get older our eyes are going to go .....so we will have to move up in scale or quite modeling.... ;D ;D

Just sent the modular wheels and tires out for rapid prototyping this morning. I should have them in hand by the weekend. I will post up some pics of the rapid prototyped parts as soon as I have them. We decided to make the 3 inch and 5 inch side wall tires first along with the "Thrust D" and "kidney bean" Halibrand center sections. With this modular setup there are a total of 20 different tire and wheel combinations that can be made with any offset the modeler desires. Here are some pics of all the tire/wheel combinations This is the 3 inch sidewall height tire family This is the 5 inch sidewall height tire family

I would like to inquire about wheels for a 1/18 scale diecast camaro that I am building. The selection of wheels for this scale is non existent.

GMP does sell a few select style of wheels if you can find them. I am making a pro touring style Camaro and I would like to find a set like you find in the 67 Chevelle kit by Revell. Thanks for posting the links though!!

Santa came this weekend. He brought the modular tires and wheels from the Rapid Prototyper!! Boy did the tires ever turn out super nice. I was a little worried about the treads in the tires needing a lot of cleanup......there are almost 1000 individual treads on the larger tire. But they came out perfect....little to no cleanup on the main tread part. Now all we have to do is get them cleaned up, molded up and get them into production. Just think of it.....any tire width from 16 to 6 inches.......modern matching treads on two different sidewall height tires.......any offset on the rim......we only have two now but many many rim centers to come....... and they all work together in one system.........This is something the 1/8th scale world has really needed. Here are some pics.

Well, we have worked up another wheel center to use in our 1/8 scale Modular Tire and Wheel system. This is the computer model of the a Radir Tri Rib wheel that I will be sending off to be rapid prototyped this week.
