You may not want yours as badly weathered as I do them, but here are a couple of them to peek at: On both the Charger and Beetle I used Modern Options' two-step "Instant Rust" kit from my local Michael's craft store. The Charger received a misty coat of gray automotive primer follwed by a misty coat of flat black & red oxide primer before the rust was added; the Beetle's belly was done right over Tamiya semigloss black.

Thanks, Gary; after years of making models look pretty and shiny, I've really taken a liking to makin' em look less-than-pretty.

Hey Dave. Could you post a photo of the Modern Options' two-step "Instant Rust" kit? The girl at Michaels is looking at me as if I'm some kind of nut case.
I am you know, but that's not important now. Anyway, she can't seam to find it on their shelves. Thanks!

I don't have a pic of the set itself, but I know it's shown early on in Keith's video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgJh1nYoLt4Our local Michaels stores(we have 3 ;D) keep the set with the faux finishes and the Valspar textured paints, not with the model paints. If your store has enough trouble hooking you up, email me and I'll take care of you.

wow love the rust.. looks so real looks great thanks mike blackwidow1119@aol.com Thanks for the kudos, Mike. It looks so real because it is real rust after all. The base paint has small iron particles suspended in it, and the top etching solution helps speed up the oxidation process.
