This is a build i have wanted to make for so long, but said i can't do that! Well i finally tried it i guess i did it, and i love it! I just wanted a stock looking truck with a lift. I had a 77 that we built (1:1) it was stolen, these are my favorite trucks. I worked on this for 4 months, lots of new stuff to me, and scratch building. My longest and most scratch building i have done.
I could not decide on a color, so i left it up to my wife, she picked the color, and it went from there, so it is now her truck, i have plates with her name on em, and i need to put the mirrors on it, but i just got them, and have not taken new pics. Now i will build another for me!
I started with an old bigfoot that was built, i got it off ebay, and it was in bad shape! Took 2 hours to get the body off the chassis! Here is what i did, i will try to keep it short! .....
Body.....
I took 2 cabs cut em to make a crew cab,( sizes from a 1:1 cab, it is dead one!) sanded off the lower molding, kept the upper molding. Added a drip rail to the top.
These come in the kit as a camper special, so i moved the rear wheel wells forward to a standard bed, and had to redo the inner bed sides(wheel humps) and bed floor, added new braces. Put on fender flares, and molded em. Filled the hole in the hood to make it a stock hood. Cut out the openings in the grill.
Frame-suspension-engine.....
I scratch built the frame and suspension , except for the engine -trans, dana 60 housings or pumpkins, i got them from big jeepz. I added the axle tubes, spindles, u joints, disc brakes. The steering works(poseable)steering stabalizer, shocks work. Leafs, driveshafts, frame, shocks , etc i made. Engine is a 428 CJ from my parts box. These are my first home made headers, i made em after real ones from a pic. I made the headers like they are from the company, then i made exhaust pipes to go up to be level with the frame, so they don't hang below the body. Lots more little things.
Interior...
I added bucket seats front, and made a console. Made a steering column, made a auto. shift lever, and a 4x4 shifter. Added some guages.
I am sure i forgot lots , but ya get the idea, i did a lot of work on this, and lots of new things to me, mostly scratch building. I had fun, and surprised my self!
Thanks for looking and any comments!
Thanks to my buddy josh for the parts i needed to build this! And big ed for the wheels.
