Back in 06(?), I was involved in the first Christmas Kit Exchange here. I had mentioned in a post somewhere that my favorite year Chevy was 1961. Well, I believe it was Modelmasterbruce that got my name, and really made my day by sending me the Lindberg 61 Impala kit! Back in the mid 70s, I bought a real '61, with the intention of building my "dream machine". It was going to be black with a red tuck and roll interior, a 454/4 speed, and Corvette Ralley wheels. Well....as you can probably guess, I never got the car built. Other things got in the way, and I ended up selling it. Anyway....back to the model. After Christmas, we all decided to have a CBP with the kits we had gotten as gifts. I was going to build mine as the REAL car I had planned in the 70s. I got started.....but just like the real one, other things took priority, and I soon lost interest. I was digging through some stuff a few weeks ago, and ran across my old Lindberg '61 CBP project, and said to myself "Self, why don't you finish this? I mean, Bruce really put some thought into getting you this kit, and its only been, what...TWO YEARS? You OWE it to him AND the forum to finish it!" Well....here it is! Lindbergs '61 Impala, built as the car I planned in the 70s. The tuck and roll interior was made by sanding the kit seats smooth and covering with ribbed Evergreen Styrene. The engine is from the Revell 67 Chevelle, and the wheels are from a Revell Corvette. It ain't perfect....but I finally have my dream car! Thanks again, Bruce! Better late than never, huh?

Very nice Roadhawg. Would have been a beautiful 1:1. That is the type of car that was just a "used car" that teenagers could afford back when I was a kid. Your '61 has that look to it.
