Gary, Cookeville is in Tenessee. It's the Middle Tn. Modler's Assoc. show, both auto and military, and is on Saturday March 14. Got to meet Bobby, Old Coyote, and a few from another board there last year, despite the blizzard we had to go thru on the way down. What should be like a 2 1/4 hour drive took us 4.5 to 5 hours to make! And that also resulted in a low turnout on Saturday for the show, but we had a good time anyway! This sounds like a great project, can't wait to see the results. If my building time wasn't so sporadic I would have gotten in on it, but didn't want to risk holding the project up. Sounds like a good time and a pretty nice show. I'll have to consider going. Thanks for all the information and your photos are great. Dave Oh, and if you want to see the pics I took there last year, s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb298/fireguy14/shows/Cookeville2008/

We are staying at the Key West Inn at Cookeville. I believe it was $54.99 a night. The family and I are leaving late Thurs night so we can make a stop before Cookeville to visit a great friend. If you need info on the hotel let me know Gary. I can e-mail you a list of classes if you want.

Hey, Bobby. If you get bored Friday go check out Burgess Falls. An unbelievable series of waterfalls just a few miles outside the city. And the hike (walk) too and from is very short. I am seriously thinking of going there during the judging on Saturday... I can't stand standing round. Besides, how many of us don't need a little exercise? www.tennessee.gov/environment/parks/BurgessFalls/John p.s. sorry for taking this thread so off topic

We woke up to 4+ inches of snow the day of the show last year. Still had a great time. Up here, we call snowfall less than 6 inches a ' dusting.' ;D

Well looks like we have the team. Now we need a plan laid out.
Is this going to be a mall crawler? What body mods are going to be done? I'm not good a scratchbuilding thats why I volenteered for paint. I'm willing to donate what I can.
John if you need a truck to try roll cage on let me know as I have one of the longbed Yotas.
If we need to discuss anything we can always meet in chat. I have free long distance so I'm open to phone discussion too.

Since my work tends to replicate real trucks, most of what the final truck looks like (that I build) is dictated by the tire size and style. I would think 44" Boggers would need a shiny mall crawler. The 35 Swampers it came with would be better for a real trail truck. Did we ever decide which we will be using? Bobby, if you want to bring a kit to Cookeville, I can mail it back to you along with the finished cage.

i would like to first apologize to everyone, ive been insanely busy lately.. it sounds like you guys just about built it without me. I have the 4 runner, and the truck.. Im using the tires that came with as i like to build fairly normal off roaders.. you know, capable but not extreme. This is the first working IFS I will be trying(hopefully acomplishing), and the 4 runner looks more user freindly for that setup. If the 4 runner is used itll be IFS, and coils in the rear. if the truck is used, itll be leafs in the rear. the truck is sounding good, because you guys have one there to start with. whats in my head is a capable truck built for the trail with some head turning shine. im gonna start cutting up the IFS tonight, so let me know truck or 4 runner(IFS is the same for both) also, I still need to know what green is being used. for some reason this kit has very little chrome( the double cab I did was full of chrome) so I want to put both colors on the suspension. sorry for the delay, sometimes i have lots of time..sometimes I have none Mopar1

just so you all know, my votes on the 4 runner just because i know the IFS will be easier. but its a group thing, and its not about being easy. as for the colors, they have to be normal colors so theyre available at the hobby shop, just let me know.. again, sorry for the delay

Mopar, not sure but think we had decided that the Longbed Toyota was the one we were building since that was the kit they sent you. Doesn't matter to me but I am "chomping at the bit" to get started. John

trucks good by me.. it'll be leafs in the back.. again, im sorry its taken so long. my suspension isnt going to get in the way of anything so if people want to start on interior and what not go ahead.. all my extra time will go to this truck so hope it doesnt take to long.. still need confirmation on the colors.

I have the green for you. Will ship it out Monday morning. When building actually starts we will post pics in a separate post. We will leave this post for communicating. Make sure pics are taken throughout the build process.
Did we decide where the finished model will go?
