This is the 2nd car I owned while in high school in 1982 & 1983. It truely was owned by a little old lady who drove it, once a week, to the grocery store that I worked at. I was always asking her if she would sell me this car and when her husband died she asked me if I was still interested in it. $500.00! I had the cash the next day. Of course it wasn't fixed up like you see it here. It was just a stock Buick when I got it but it was in beautiful shape. Here it is with my friends Mustang. Back then these were just used cars . If I only knew then what I know now... Then there was this beast! Purely a party car. Yes, we drove around my little mid-west town, "draggin' Main", with that couch barely tied to the top. I guess it is true what they say...God looks after children and fools. I'd ring my kids' necks if I ever caught them doing this, (MY folks never caught me ;D). That's me on the hood. What on earth was I thinking .

Nice cars John! That Buick is real sharp, but then I'm a sucker for a car with Cragars on it! My 3rd car, a 1977 Camaro, had a set. My first was a '76 Impala station wagon. Total land yacht. And we did our share of surfing on the hood of it! But somehow we never came up with the inspiration to tie a couch to the roof!

2 questions John.
(1) Why was your Buick for sale?
(2) Are you wearing a wig? ;D

2 questions John. (1) Why was your Buick for sale? (2) Are you wearing a wig? ;D 1. The wagon pics were taken during the final few weeks of my senior year of high school, sometime in May. I was off to the Air Force in a few weeks after that. I had no where to store the Buick and I didn't plan on returning home anytime soon, (long story). The Buick sold quickly and the wagon was to keep me from walking. BTW, the wagon sold quickly too. A man bought it for the engine. He was going to use it in a Mustang he was fixing up. 2. No wig, just my own honest-to-goodness hair, sigh

........... I'd ring my kids' necks if I ever caught them doing this, ( MY folks never caught me ;D). I could see your kids and their friends strapping a couch to the top of your "Z" for a night on the town.
But as far as your parents never catching you with the couch on the roof, ..... well they never caught you, but they were always totally confused on why there were bug guts splattered on the right side of the living room sofa. Dad always thought the insects must have power dived in through the back door at high speed and exited through the front door, some not being lucky enough to avoid the sofa. He even replaced that back door screen twice. ;DThat's funny right there, I don't care who you are.

With the way John drives now that couch would go sailing on the hood. Just ask my models on his driving.
Too funny.
You did have cool cars back then and now John.
