Well I couldn't pull off the trip to NNL east. Partly me just not wanting to fight with anymore traffic after spending 3 days in DC. Did make the trip to Cinci though, and had a good time. Meet some great folks and brought home a little hardware as well as probably the best deal I have ever gotten on models. No pictures but I got 1st in comp. closed wheel with my Charger, and 3rd in motorcycles with my yamaha. I had no intentions of buying anything unless I came across a great deal and boy did I ever. Was just standing in front of a vendor table looking and the guy asks if I am into Nascar. He offered me everything for $40. Could not pass it up, I don't have room for them and will never build all of them but hey. also did a little shoping during the judging, after droping my old camera in Charleston it was time for a new one. (got a strap for this one) Picked up a Nikon coolpix P90. Everything I have read about it is supposed to be a good one and really good for the close up shots. the show pics are here. public.fotki.com/sarge450/model_shows/cincinnati-challeng1/

Good haul there Tom. If you need to get rid of a some I'll take 2 or 3 of them off of your hands. Congrats on your awards too. I knew that Charger was gonna be a showstopper.

Thanks guys, if you see any you need send me a PM. Didn't really buy them to try and make a buck but I would be willing to part with a few.
I guess there was a big discussion during the judging because I cleared over the decals on this one. Only time I do that is when the decals are a large part of the scheme, which this one was. But I guess a few members of the judging team felt it was not accurate and wanted to gig me on it. I am not real sure what to think on that one, as sometimes the teams do clear over the graphics while at other times they don't. I can't see gigging someone in a contest on it. I guess I still got a lot to learn about building for a show.

Ah build for you not for a show Tom. Fact of the matter is that I can see not clearing over maybe fender decals and numbers but I love shiny models. Nascar, drag, kustom, etc. I do agree that maybe a short track build or something would look much better with no clear. But I'm sure you have all gotten those dry spots in your freshly painted models that simply need cleared. Those same judges that wanted to gig you probably would tried even harder to get you had there been a spot where the paint looked semi gloss or satin. But it matters not bud. You still won it!!! Congrats.
