My nephew turned 8 just before Christmas last year, and my mom wanted to get him a model kit as a gift; she had helped him with a 'make and take' build not long ago, and wanted to do another one with him because they both enjoyed it. We found a Revell snapper Camaro on clearance at Michaels for a measly 5 bucks, and crazy glue-sniffin' uncle Dave got an idea: I'd pre-paint the body and interior, add a few details that would personalize it. Tamiya metallic red over black on the outside, Krylon camel 'Make it Suede' on the inside. The hood stripe came from the Revell '69 Nova, and the window logos are fingernail decals I scored from Ebay. I scuffed the tires and detail-painted the brakes. A photoreduced NY license plate makes it clear who owns this gem(I gave it his initals and birth date). public.fotki.com/VWDave/my_model_cars/joes-camaro/Sadly, Ma passed away a few days after New Year's, and she never got to help put the model together. With his dad lending a hand it did get done, and I know she'd have loved it as much as I do.
