Just an idea: In the short time I've been around model "forums" there seems to be the same problem over and over-BAD TRADERS or out and out RIP OFF artists. Lets say Trader "A" has a kit to trade with Trader "B" but for some reason they don't know each other. Then we have Mr. Middle Man-- Trader "A" sends his box to Mr. Middle Man with a brief explanation of the trade. Trader "B" sends his box to Mr. Middle Man with his side of the trade. When Mr. Middle Man feels both sides have met their agreement(for a small fee ) Mr. M/M sends both boxs on their way. There would be a time limit to get your box to Mr. M/M or the box goes back to the original sender--NO HARM no FOUL It's a shame things are like that, but it's kept me from wanting to get involed with trading or selling to people I don't know, even buying stuff for that matter ! I'm sure there would be details that need to be worked out and this is just an idea I've been thinking about -BAD TRADERS SUCK !!

Here is my point, A while back I had a forum member send me a PM from another forum I belong to-It read some thing like this : Are you interested in this kit I have ? I sent a PM back that said: Yes I am, and sent my e-mail address to him so it did'nt have to go thru the PM system. I got another PM back that went like this: What do you have ? SOOO I reply back with a few offers-and my cell phone #...what came next ? another PM ! After this went back and forth 3 or 4 times I said the heck with this---NO DEAL ! Hey if you don't want me to have your e-mail address or phone number- Why would I want you to have my home address ? How do I know the address I'm sending my stuff to is a real address-and not an abandoned house next door ? What do they care if you live up to your end of the deal AND send the right address if they have no plans to send his end of the deal ? I could care less about the "friendship" thing as I don't think that member is some one I would want to be friends with any way-BUT a deal is a deal right ? It's one thing to be made a clown of on the boards, but don't think for a minute you'll make a clown out of me in my 1:1 life !!! Cecil

Been there....And I understand your fustration.......but the way I have settled this is that I have told new people that do not have a reputation set among the site...meaning If you go to th egood traders you will find posts of te great transactions done....if that person is not on that list like I usually check... i let that person know that I have a good set rep among traders and as soon as I get my parcel..I will send yours and if everyting goes well your name will go onto the good list....but if not....your name will go to the bad boys list with a huge warning of do not deal unless its COD. its tough or sometimes expensive to send to some members....it would make it tougher and more costly if the middle man gets involved and you have to pay twice the shipping

It's sad to say Bear is right. There is no fool proof way for preventing traders from getting "SMOKED," in a trade. You just have to be real carefull with who you are trading with and his "TRADINE REP." Sending it to a third party will increase the postage considerably and would be bad for the members from over the pond or ascross the border..SSSSOOOORRRRRYYY.

Looks like 3 or 4 of those guys on Model Cars Magazines forum got burned on a trade, under "Waiting for my end of the trade" Then this guy "Wheelman-Mike" suggested a "trade monitor" and it made me think of this post that was started 6 months ago, I thought about telling them what you said about the idea of a middle man . A friend of mine "middled" this deal for me and it only cost me an extra $6.00 shipping, but I knew my deal was safe also. As far as the extra cost to ship across the border-that's the cost of doing business across the border. Seems all the guys that sent kits to the guy are from the U.S. and paid the shipping to him in Canada-now he's complaining about his end of the shipping to them-after he got their kits-and he's still trying to make more deals right now ! At this point I'm sure those 3 or 4 guys that got "SMOKED" would gladly pay a little extra shipping next time to insure this would'nt happen again. I've seen people on the good trader list one place and the bad trader list on others. Heck-them guys were calling each other" bro" and all that before all this started...wonder what their calling him now ?? Don't forget they pay more for magazines in Canada also..... that's not my fault.
