I figured I'd share my latest with Y'all. Recently, I got interested in "box art models"....models that are built exactly, or as close as possible to the art on the box. I dug out one of my oldest kits, an AMT early 60s vintage 1949 Ford, and decided to build it as the mild custom depicted on the box. This is a 99.9% box stock build. The only extras I used were flocking in the interior and the whitewall tire decals. Everything else is from the kit....and yes, this is the original kit, not a recent reissue. These old kits are meant to be built! The paint is Testors Italian Red with a urethane clearcoat. I had a blast building this one! As soon as I finish a few other projects, I'm gonna do some more box art models!

Nice, nice job Tommy. Looks like a super good build, and I really like the idea. I have several that I have considered doing as "box art" builds, just haven't gotten around to it. Seems like it would be very relaxing to not worry about making it prototypical. Plus I remember as a kid trying to make them look like the box top!
