I herd of wet sanding a model car to make the paint come out shinny. How would I do this does anyone have any tips? I was thinking of using car wax then buffing it out on my model.

Hi scooby,
I use the novus polishing kit, it's pretty easy almost like waxing a real car. Novus has three levels, I really only use one and two. I rub the paint out with two being careful not to rub down to the primer. Novus two will get you a nice gloss and then use one to really get the paint to pop. Hope this helps you out.

There are at least two ways that I have heard as "wet sanding". One way is to sand between each coat of primer and each coat of paint. This way you will get any dust out of the way before the next coat.
Here is another way. Do you have a polishing kit? I have one from LMG. This is a kit that has several cloths of very fine grit, a foam block and polish. I believe the grits are something like this....1200, 2400, 3600, 6000, 8000 & 12000. I have a small bowl of water and I soak my cloths in it. Some people will put a drop or two of soap in the water. I start with the finest cloth that I can to knock down orange peel, dust bunnies, etc. I constantly "rinse" the cloth in the water. I like to dry the model to check my progress. I work my way up to the 12000 cloth. After that you can use Novus or wax.
Every modeler probably has his or her way of doing this. I do a combination of both. I check the part I have painted after each coat. If there is dust, and there almost always is, I will let it dry and sand out the dust. I use the polishing kit after the final color coats are on. Just experiment and find the way that works best for you with the supplies that you have. Good luck!
