Great stuff Brian! I've been wanting a Grand Sport for a while, and just got a Scarab at a show last year. How is that kit to build?

The Scarab is downright crude. Ultra simple curbside kit based on a slot car body. I added a few things to mine, including a long oop Ricambi detail set/decals and some scratch built stuff. I made the wide rear wheels from a pair of the slot car wheel inserts and a parts box wheel with the center cut out, the roll bar hoop and tail pipes from aluminum tube, and I made the dummy engine insert from scrap plastic and resin trumpets left over from the Fisher resin Ferrari. Also made a mesh rear screen to replace the kit's chrome part. The Ricambi set included a PE front grill screen, dash panel, and decals for four versions of the car. I have two more of the Monogram slot/curb side kits in the pile, the Chaparral 2D and the Porsche 904 GTS. Still want the 1/24 Ferrari 275P to go with them.

Thanks for the info. I have the 2D, and scored the Ferrari at the same time as the Scarab. May have the 904, not sure.

The Scarab is my fault....LOL.....I gave Brian a dirt cheap price and sent it to him to work his magic. Now I think he may like those 'simple "kits to play with.
Great models Mono!

;)Brian, if I didn't know your builds so well and I saw them for the first time I would say they were Franklin Mint cars .

Great builds, all of them! I bought that Scarab kit just out of nostalgia, it's nice to see someone make a nice model out of it!
