Pulled the glass out only to find that it has a big crack and some small scratches on it...

Beemer is looking good! Real bummer about the windshield. What about making a replacement? Clamshell containers of cookies are usually fairly clear, or Hobby Town sells sheets of various colors, including clear. Looks like it would be fairly easy to cut a new one. And if need be, cover the old one with a single piece of tape, trim off the excess, then remove and place tape on an index card. Then you'd have a template to cut the new one.

I found someone with a spare windshield, so I am on hold for a few days until it arrives.
