Monogram SSP Black Widow

I did a quick build on this for a review and thought I'd share it here. This is The Monogram (Revell) SSP Black Widow '26 T Pickup kit. If you've been looking for something that goes together fast, this is it. The only real issue is a higher than normal amount of flash, but its not a major problem. There's not a lot of detail....the rear axle is just a solid rod, there is no transmission, and the engine is just a generic American looking V-8, but this thing was actually fun to build! While I chose to build the box art version, there are decals for 4 different schemes. The gauges are also decals. The tires are very nice, and have dirt track tread, but scale out to about 18" in 1/24 scale and 21" in 1/25....a little big for vintage dirt track cars.
By the way...when I said a quick build, the model you see was built in about 8 hours. The only areas that were painted was the red....everthing else is as molded. This would be a great choice for younger modelers that are ready to move from snap kits to glue kits.
I plan to grab a few more of these to play around with on slow days.

A real beauty. I remeber building this kit when I was a kid. That would have been before 1965, So the orginal was old. I saw on TV a couple years ago that they were building a real one based on the kit. Good show. I am like you and will probably end up with wq couple to mess with. Thanks for the review.
