My old project truck

Over the summer I picked this ol 49 International KB-3 1 ton complete for $700....its got no rot anywhere and its got a rebuilt flat head in line 6 under its skirt but with 73 HP @3200rpm.....Im not going anywhere fast.




So.....in September, I bought a 72 Lincoln Mark IV in mint condition with 56,165 original miles for $700 for the drive train. Its got the 460 rated@365HP married to the C-6 tranny and hooked up to a 9 inch at the back with 2:80 to 1 ratio. (that may have to change)



Hopefully down the road it will look something along this style of HotRod?RatRod.....

Here is the beast that will replace the 73 HP GD-214 .........its a Ford 460BB from a 72 Lincoln rated at 365 HP.....the last of the big hp before the detuning........Tranny is off, torque converter, flexplate, starter, fan and fan clutch, alternator, w/p pully and belts...

aluminum intake form Weiand
EdelBrock 600cfm Carb with manual choke
Choke cable
Fuel line single feed relocator
Pro form Ford Racing air cleaner to match the valve covers
ring kit
federal mogul valve spring kit
summit racing cam/lifter kit
Mr.gasket chrome water neck
summit racing oil pan
Melling oil pump and pickup
edelbrock timing set
federal mogul gasket set and a few other small goodies

Got the block and heads back from the Hot Tank..... Block is honed and all painted up Dark Ford Blue and the heads are painted aluminum. Did some detail work to the heads.....ported and polished and one head has the valve seats lapped with compound.



Lapping the valve seats with a specialty tool that is about 45 years old.

Bottom end is done including new oil pump......and cam is in with double roller timing set and end gap checked..........
tomorrow is ....heads, rocker assemblies, lifters, push rods and intake.






even the dog wanted to help....and he wore safety glasses in the shop while I was grinding and cutting

Looks good Dan what mods (if any) will you be doing to the tranny and rear end please keep us all posted on this

with the new cam and carb+intake setup....estimated HP is closer to 530HP

cant wait to get the truck at my house to start working on it.
