I'm sure someone has had the same problem I'm having from time to time. However; it's p#*ssing me off to no end. After I've painted one of my cars, I let it set for a couple of days then spray it again. Today it happend again! After another coat was applied the finish started to wrinkle.....I'm using Rust-Oleum for plastic spray paint. I had two light coats done before and wanted to put one last one on, thats when everything went to he**! Wrinked finish. What am I doing wrong?

I had a similar thing happen to me with Krylon. My first couple of light coats went on fine. When I went to put on a final wet coat it wrinkled on me. My best guess is that the final coat was too heavy . It also may have something to do with the time in between coats. Maybe Rustoleum takes longer than hobby paints to gas out and cure???

I tried the same "For Plastic" paint and had terrible luck with it. I was told that the paint is for a #2 plastic, like lawn chairs, milk cartons, mail boxes those types of things. Models are made with styrene plastic. It is plastic but a different type of plastic. I don't know how true all this is but I quit using the "For Plastic" paints and my problems went away.

Buck,
I was painting a Garlits Swamp Rat digger, using the Plastic only paint, & I had the same issue you did, I had also used T35 sandable primer, first. It started to craze after the 3rd light coat.

That's last coat's a killer with these paints. I've used both the krylon and the rustoleum. I had the problem with the wrinkling when I tried to clear this car (krylon). After giving it a bath and trying again (3 coats in succession) the blue came out pretty nice straight out of the can. I threw a little bit of carnuba wax over it and it shined up pretty good--no polish or anything. However the blue was the second color over krylon white. I used the same krylon blue on these cars--no polishing or wet sanding--just clear coated with future floor polish. This time the white was duplicolor. I used rustoleum red for plastic on this one and was considerably less happy with the results--took a lot of polishing and still didn't turn out that well. I did another with krylon red and wasn't happy with that result either, but for some reason the blue tends to come out pretty nice if you put it down on top of something. On this one I used Duplicolor but it took a lot of polishing. The Clear was Future again.

Also,,, Everybody - for your information - you CAN NOT use Laquer over Acrylic Enamel, it will wrinkle the paint everytime, however you can use Acrylic Enamel over Laquer - I try to stay away from all Laquer Paints, and only use Acrylic Enamel - many Spray Paint cans don't actually say on the can what type of paint it really is, so Read the can carefully - even clear from Krylon I believe is Laquer based, NOT good if you've painted your whatever in Acrylic Enamel, I like to use 1 Shot Sign Painters Enamel, thru an Airbrush, its the same paint many professional Sign Painters use on signs and pinstriping on street rods and Big Rigs, its great paint, sets up fairly fast, and comes only in small cans NOT Spray paint, Also I only buy Rust O'Leum in small cans that I can mix and thin myself to the desired color and consistency to run thru my Airbrush,, Just Remember everybody READ those cans - you CAN NOT use Laquer over Acrylic Enamel , it'll almost 99% of the time cause a Wrinkle finish you won't like - I was told because it causes a chemical reaction between the two paints and has an adverse reaction when mixed together ! like oil and water, or Gas and Fire,, or how about this Whisky , Beer and Milk - NOT a good mix ~ ! !
