I started this build a while back for my wife, then restarted it for a project at the beginning of the year. She wants a simple truck...no blower out of the hood, no lights on the roll bars, black and a little purple...something built in the back yard, but strong enough to tear the turf up! Here's what I've done so far.
This is the kit I'm using. It has some stock parts in it, so It'll work for this build.
I filled in the hood with plastic sheet and stretched sprue for the spine.
Puttied and sanded, had more to do on this.
Trimmed the headers and shot dark aluminum.
Got working on the engine. Wired, ran a fuel line. Used a gas cap off of a scrap 34 Ford kit to simulate the bottom of the fuel pump.
I stopped work a few months and this is where I was at the beginning of January.
Found this necklace stuff at Wal-Mart, seems like a good way to simulate braided hose and fittings, and very cheap. Painted the bead with clear red.
Here's the bag of beads, 2 bucks at Wal-Mart.
Contemplated on how to make fittings outta these tiny things. Put them on a toothpick, grinded flat spots with my Dremel.
This is what I got.
Ran the line.
Scratched coil, and first try at a throttle return spring.
Mounted the engine, started a fuel line. Painted the frame with three different blacks, tank straps masked and chromed, built the front end.
Front end.
Shocks are aluminum, brushed gloss black, chrome.
This is them before clean up.
Worked over the tires with my Dremel.
Tried to decant and spray black...DISASTER! Stripped and sanded, then I spayed out of the can, it's workable now. Decanted the Boyd's purple and sprayed the wheels...smooth! This is where I sit now.
