I usually build 1/48 military stuff, but this 1/72 X-15 was readily available for a few bucks. I always loved this aircraft when I was growing up...it broke many records, and it looks fast just sitting... Not to mention in the air! Kit went together well. Had to bend the rear wings down a bit, sprayed the fuselage testors silver, then flat black. Sanded lightly to bring the raised panel lines out. Spayed future, decaled, then a semi gloss coat. It's based on the plane here at the Air Force Museum

Very sinister looking, very cool! When I was a kid, I kept hoping an X-15 would crash in our back yard so I could play in it, lol!

Looks great Tim. You did a very nice job on this. Was this the predecessor to the SR-71?

Thanx guys. I think NASA used it for high altitude, high speed tests for the space program, dropped from a B-52...what a ride that must have been! I imagine they used allot of data from this bird for the for the Blackbird. I know this pup could scoot!

Tim, What a GREAT build. This really brings back memories. I built the X15 kit back in 1965. GREAT WORK! 8-)RICK
