Well this is quite a tale to tell. This was the first IPMS show I have gone to. Man it was top heavy with military, sci-fi, figures, etc. But in the end it was a good show. I am guessing that the total automotive entries was probably 50 to 60. I should have counted. There were a few more entered than are pictured here but I had already taken my camera out and locked it on the trunk of the car and nothing was exciting enough to make me go get it for more pictures.
I entered 8 builds and won 2 first places, 2 second places and one third place. I was very happy about that. I did better than I thought I would.
Bought one car at the swap meet part. A 41 Ford Woody Got it for 3 bucks. it was open but complete. Then while talking to the guy he reaches into a box and pulls out a metal die cast Model T and ask me if I was interested in it. His main focus is Military so he was trying to get rid of these kits. When he handed it to me the end flap opened and everything in it fell out. It had been started, engine and the instructions were gone. I told him I wasn't interested. He said how about I just give it to you. I don't want to haul it home. So I took it.
They had a raffle and I bought 10 bucks worth of tickets (25 tickets)with those tickets I won 5 kits. So 5 ribbons and 5 kits not a bad day at all.
When I finally found Fort Worden State park, I knew I had never been there but it all looked very familiar to me. The fort was built in 1902 and decommissioned in 1953. While at the awards presentation I was talking with a fellow modeler I know and she told me that the movie "AN Officer and a Gentleman" was filed there. bang the light was on. That is exactly where I remember seeing the fort. very cool so here are the winnings.
First place winners.
Second place winners.
Third place winner.
Bought the wagon, was given the T Bucket and won the Stealth
won these two.
won this one.
And won this one. I think this is the kit Al built a little hot rod out of. Or maybe it was a service truck.
So that's how my Saturday went. I only saw two modelers that I recognized.
I forgot the link. Here is a link to the pictures.
