Been checking out all of these wonderful dioramas on this and other sites. Wanted to do a simple garage scene so to make some kind of a backdrop for my models, and work in progress picks. Gonna add more stuff as I go. I want to make something that will always change in one way or another as I build. I'm using the Fujimi tool kit for all the garage stuff. The gray box in the corner is a welder in progress. Here's the starting stages, I may widen the back wall a bit, not sure yet. I'm just learning.

These things take time and practice. A short cut can be buying some equipment from aftermarket suppliers, made from metal or resin. There are fabulous examples on the web, though some are hard to find. Pick an era and building design and go for it! Congrats on your desire and the effort so far!

Thanx for the encouragement fellas. I'm starting out with foam board right now. If I can get a nozzle unstuck on an old can of paint, I'm gonna spray the bottom of the wall blue. I'd like to have a garage on one side, and build a show room for final pics beside it. All the inches are divided by 25 for scale right? Like for outlets, beer fridge, doors, windows...oh, did I mention a beer fridge? Thanx guys!

That's right. You take the dimensions of what you want to replicate and divide by the scale. 24, 25 32, 16 what ever. It will keep you looking accurate. Those are nice conversion charts.

Those are very nice charts, thanx. So, our industrial doors at work are 36x81 inches. Scaled down to 1/25th would be 1.440x3.240. Is that correct? One more and I'll stop and go with it. If an outlet is 4 1/2 inches wide. I would take 4.500 divided by 25=0.180. Sorry, I've been working in machine shops most of my life, my current for 21 years and I still bite at math!

All of your math is correct. The problem you will encounter trying to stay in scale is sometimes you have to go bigger or smaller because you can't find what you need to do the job. But now you know what you need so you can get as close as possible to the correct size. I think that Jimmy Buffet wrote the song "Math Sucks" about me. I keep a cheap calulator on my bench so I can just push the buttons and wait on the answer. LOL

Buffet, what a party! Added a few more things over the summer. Painted the bottom of the wall, threw some rims and tires in there, finished the welder. Working on a 220 outlet for it now. This Fujimi garage set is pretty cool, it's like 100 little models in one box

Thank you, It's right behind my workbench chair, so when I come down here to work I flip the lights on it and when something gets ready, I just flip around and add to it, or take away, then snap a few pics. I think it keeps me more interested in what I'm building and limits me to one or two car kits, rather than several at once. At least I hope that's how it works out.

Thanx Chip. Well...caught a situation!...Had to come downstairs to use the restroom the other day...our girls had the upstairs one taken. Was a little dark, Didn't pay attention to the cords, toe of my sneakers...well...tore the walls, lights down. When I turned more lights on, this is what I saw. Lights on the floor, only one fixture broke My heart dropped until I realized how lucky I was that I used foam board, real wood would have probably crushed everything Glad I haven't hung anything on the walls yet, and the Vette and Viper are ok, just got some clean up to do...maybe some new walls also.

Everything is back up. There's a crack in the wall, adds a little caricature to it. I'll hang some stuff up.

Been trying to keep most anything I work on inside this. From the bench to the dio. then pics. Adding as I go. Picked up a bike this weekend. With a little detailing these 1/24 bikes would look really nice
