staceydavid.com/revell-contest/2012Knew I wasnt going to win anything but after seeing what did win Im not sure what the judges were looking at. Before anyone goes off and says Im a sore loser your wrong. Anyone that knows me will tell you I dont build to win trophies or awards at shows. Im just stating when mold lines are not sanded off a build and it wins that shows me judges were not paying attention to the quality of the build. Plus how do you even know your entry was received by Revell. No confirmation at all.

Not having seen any other entries, let alone the listed "honorable mentions," I can't judge. Not a lot of altering of kits puts stress on quality in all areas rather than creativity. From what's available at the site (thanx for the link!) all seem flawless in assembly and paint. The unknown of color choice is judges have their color faves and builders can't know preferences. All in all it's a lesson for us to be careful and patient in all phases of building . . . while having fun along the way! THANX!

Having been invitied to searve as a guest judge at a show last year. I was a little surprised at how it all happens. No biggie, It was a great learning experience. Now I understand more about how it all works.

Seems to me last year's winners were a little weak also.

The orange 68 Charger is nice. Contests like these sort of become a who can take the best picture contest. I've judged and been deemed the head judge at model contests. It's not an easy job and to some you never get it right. ;D

Like refs and umps, we are a human. If I were a judge I know I'd have my biases and would struggle to overcome them. The power of some judges to win over fellow judges also can affect choices. It is, simply, a tough and very human job. Hats off to those who do their best to be fair and see their own shortcomings in assessing entries!
