Interesting idea. Back when I did models, I just lightly sanded the raised border edges between colors, the hit with clear. Now there's super fine sandpaper, polishing kits, and the options and expectations are a real challenge. Looks good and would like to see the rest of the build, i.e. engine interior, frame. Good going so far, thanx!

So I hadn't finished this one and I was eager to chop a 49 but didn't want to open one of my new kits. Gotta say I almost fell off my stool laughing so hard when I saw my attempt.
Anyone have a how to on chopping a 49 merc?

Well I didn't make any cuts to the roof and it seems its working out....ok... Here is how it looks. I added more filler and will do more sanding tomorrow.

After more filling and sanding I laid some primer on it to see what it looked like. Not too bad. needs more sanding and maybe a bit more filler in some areas.

You're well on your way Ice. Next time strip the paint first.

Right? Haha! To be honest it was an experiment being my first chop so I didn't bother to strip it....coming out better than I thought so it will be heavier than normal cuz of the paint.
