Here's my newest project....yes another one. It's the low rider kit but I will be turning it into a custom and not a low rider. I'm thinking a two tone white and blue. Here it is prime red in gray, then flat white. Needs some sanding and will lay down some paint in the next few days hopefully.

This holiday has been good to me so I had some time to sand this and lay down the first coat of white. Oh sorry, it's White Lightning!






You wouldn't believe how white it looks in person. It's bright! I'll give it it's next coat soon and then I will wait until next week for the Icy Blue.

Worked a bit on this...

So white lightning was thinner than I thought so spend the afternoon sanding so I could retouch it. Here's what the icy blue looks like.



This is the first time I use this and I'm loving it. The engine parts look great.

Ok here is where I'm at with the engine. Drilled some holes. The distributor is on and the boots are on. I'll start the clipping of wires tomorrow hopefully. Super happy with results so far.

A small update. Here's the prepping for the second color.






First coat


15 minutes later, second coat


15 more minutes later for third coat and removed the tape and paper as soon as I walked back to the bench.


First thick coat of gloss. This one I will let dry completely before I apply one more coat and buff it our to get rid of the orange peel.

Remember that the idea of this car is not a show car. When I finish it'll be a work in progress car. Here are some pics of the engine. A flat black interior with a white wash and some rough spots and another coat of clear.









Not too happy with the interior after the wash so I'll have to figure something out. And the engine stools needs some touching up.

Won't have a chance to work on this during the week. The job is sending me to Anaheim, CA, then Albuquerque, NM. I'll be back next weekend for more. Put in some time at the bench before that begins.

Worked on the chassis, engine mounting, and firewall. The undies look too clean so I'm contemplating rusting them up. Maybe some black here and there. Not sure. Thoughts, anyone?

It is coming along nicely Iceman. I do have a question for you about the paint. I'm really liking the two tone and the way you masked it off. Is it just me or did the blue paint sag a little bit by the door handle on the drivers side? I looked at the pics of just the paint without clear and it looks perfect.

You're absolutely correct. I could've avoided that if my impatience hadn't taken over. I should've waited a bit longer to clear.
