As if I need more projects..... I know not many of you are lowrider fans but I havent build one in a while so I'm adding it to my bench as one of the.....what is it nhow? like 12 ongoing WIPs I have. hahaha! My goal is to finish at least 3 by end of year.

Since the fan base is low for this one, I wont overwhelm you with progress pics. Here are a few to give you an idea:

Got one of those, about the same color too, been started for about 20 yrs. is going to be a resto rod. Way too many started:(

So after I cleared this one it had a lot of fish eye. I recently bought the polishing kit that is supposed to get rid of it. Grits from 3200 all the way up to 12000. I started sanding...wet sanding. You'll notice that the trunk still has some fish eye left. This is what I ended up with even after applying some polish to it. Not the mirror finish I had in mind. This supposed to be that Testors lacquer wet spray paint. Where did I go wrong? Did I sand too hard? Am I supposed to clear it again? Help...anyone...




This was supposed to be a show lowrider (I know not too many lowrider fans here but needed to build something else other than a hot rod or muscle car just to get me going). Now I'm not sure. A couple of mock ups here.






Maybe I'll just end up with a stock version.

As a "used to..." builder maybe not my place, but I'd go with clear over the red if you haven't sanded thru the red. then you may have a smoother finish plus a layer to sand upon. I like the stock height and maybe as a mild custom with either a rodded 6 or a nice V-8. I don't remember the cause for "fish eye," but it must be somewhere on the Net!
