Plenty of time to start planning your 24hr Build for Jan 25-26 2014. Shinnston crew's theme is Mustang/Camaro.

Could we finish a previous 24 Hr Build we never quite got done? Or would that ruin the spirit of the thing?

I would have to check my schedule to see if I am available (lol), but I would like to be in on this build.

It is a lot more fun if you can get together with several of your friends. It makes the time go by a little faster and helps to keep you going. Hope you can join us this year.

Thanks John.
I'll definitely take part in the group build. I have participated in group builds with other forums and really enjoy them.

Only 4 months away. Have you got your kit picked out? What are your plans?

I plan to do it again, schedule permitting. Since I have very few drag cars, I'm leaning in that direction....but that could change by then!

A little over 2 months away. Still trying to decide on what to build. May go with a plane or tank kit this year just to change things up a bit.

I bought the MPC WW2 Jeep reissue for the decals on another project, but was thinking about building the surrey top version. If something doesn't come up that drags me away from the house, I'm in!

Phil, we start at noon. Our group shows up early to set up our work benches, look over each other's projects, take the annual photo and at noon we jump right in!

I am set up to do this build. The paint booth should be working now. I just have to pick the victim...I mean kit... from the stash. I have lots of choices. I am thinking of an older kit with a bucket interior to simplify things just a bit. I might even grab a 24th scale Monogram kit for this build. I will probably build factory stock, but I might not use the exact color of matching paint. No time to order from MCW, so I will just wing it on the paint and mix up something close. I have a batch of "Wicked Colors" by createx that I got and I will be trying them for at least part of the build. I can't be stinking up the house with Lacquers too much since I am staying with a relative whom I am taking care of. I might use a Tamiya can for the body, or a Model Master car color if I have to.
Good Luck everybody, and I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

Hey Dave, glad to see you are in and ready to go! One thing to think about, (you may already have), is how fast your paint will dry. Tamiya is a good way to go in that it dries fairly fast. Even faster with the help of a dehydrator. MM enamels may not be the best way to go. I guess they do make lacquers too. Just something to keep in mind. Good luck and be sure to share your progress with us!

Sorry... I meant the Model Master Lacquers. I have a can of Honduras Maroon, (And a few of the Mopar and Ford colors) although I still don't think they dry as fast as the Tamiya ones will. I have never used the Wicked colors before, so I will test some before the actual build. I know they can be pushed along with a hair dryer, but I want to make sure before I shoot my 24 hour build. Bill Hannan in his "Peanut Power" book for flying model airplanes, mentioned that Testors Enamels never really dry... they just pick up dust until they no longer feel tacky.

Lacquers would be the way to go, and fingernail polish, thinned and air brushed would do fine too. Good luck to all!

My son has class on Fridays until 12:15 so I may not be back to the house to start until 1-130pm or so. I hope not to need the extra hour but I may go over by some amount the following Saturday. Mea Culpas if so in advance!
