This is only my second build. The first one is my avatar. I plan on painting it a metallic blue with brown interior. Working up to more complicated builds but this is pretty stock. I'm having trouble with wet sanding as the edges and raised areas sand through to the white base. I'm using progressively finer grades of sandpaper to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I'd try You Tubes, where you can see whatever you're trying to learn. If you sand thru, the problem is either or both too heavy a grade of sandpaper for the edge or raised area, or too much pressure. Sandpaper grades go well into the "thousands" and if you don't have any that fine, try say, Hobby Lobby craft store if there's one near you as they have models and a pretty good selection of other hobby stff and regular internet coupons. Hobby shops are good for specialized stuff especially, but can get pricey and some don't give the best service. Anyway, I hope this helps. On You Tube Dr. Cranky is among the best in going slow on demonstrations and specializes in cars and model trucks.

I buy sanding and polishing sticks at a beauty supply store. They are made to do fingernails and polish, so they are gentle. They are available in a whole range of grits up to polishing sticks. The best part is that I only pay 89 cents for them. (My favorites are the 800 and 1200 grit.)
The stores also have polishing "cubes." They are a small block of foam rubber with different fine surfaces. They are great for getting dust out of dry paint, or just roughing up the surface for another coat.

Thanks guys. I resprayed it and used some polishing compound. It worked great but still some minor show-through. I'll mask off the areas and respray them.
